‘Where the Way, the Wind and the Stars Meet’
In 2002 Jonathan Hayter completed the 500 mile pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in North West Spain.
Since returning from Spain the experiences on the journey have become a source for creative as well as spiritual development throughout his work generally.
However, on his return he was not sure what was the most appropriate medium with which to tell of his direct experiences of the pilgrimage and how it affected him.
Then in 2004 he met Bower Ashton MA Graduate - Cristiana Numico of ‘Porkupine Films’ who was looking for a project that could be developed as a small film. After discussion with Cristiana it be came clear that a direct outlet for Jonathan’s experiences could be as a small animated film.
The completed film now called the ‘The Pilgrimage’ brings together Jonathan’s experience in multimedia, live work and puppetry, together with Cristiana’s knowledge of stop-frame animation and film production . The finished film is a lively, colourful and imaginative evocation of medieval and modern Spain. Experiencing the film also gives an insight into a deeply moving personal and spiritual journey as well as presenting a great piece of storytelling complete with rich visual imagery.
